Obituary of Sandra Frees

It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra (Davidson) Frees, of Grand Bay-Westfield, announce her passing on Monday, April 1, 2024.  Born in 1943 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Audrey (Hamilton) Davidson.

She is survived by her daughter Tanya (Scott) Mitchell and grandson Max of Buford GA; brother Tom (Sharon) Davidson of Saint John, and nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Max, sister Barbara Doucet, and brother in law Harvey Doucet.

Sandra was an amazing cook, enjoyed knitting and gardening, loved to dance, and spending time with her family and friends.  Sandra was a devoted Christian and lifelong member of the Westfield United Church.

Sandra was a strong independent woman who worked hard her whole life.  She worked at Confederation Life as a young adult, then CP Rail.  After CP Rail closed, she decided to become an entrepreneur, and opened Sandra’s Fashions, an upscale clothing store on Germain St. in uptown Saint John.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John.  Visitation will be held at the Westfield United Church, 133 Nerepis Rd, Grand Bay-Westfield, on April 6 from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. A Memorial Service will follow at 1 PM. Following the service, a reception will be held at the church. For those who wish, donations can be made to the SPCA, Alzheimer’s’ Society, or donor’s charity of choice. For those who wish to send flowers please have them delivered to the church after 10:00 am on Saturday.
